I have posted links to the revised plan, my applications, and activity log reflection from mtg with superintendent to revise my plan above.
Greenlight Principal-The Wiki
What principals and school leaders do to create success or failure on their campuses. It occurs to me as I end my first six weeks at my new campus that teachers and children really will rise to your expectations. I had the blessing of leading a campus to success over the last 7 years and began a journey at a new campus this year that was really struggling, with discipline....morale....instruction....everything. The campus is 81% minority and economically disadvantaged. Some would assume this would be more difficult to turn around. However, we spent a lot of time in our week of staff development working to build the climate and culture that we wanted, then put our positive plans into place. I am amazed by how well it is working, not because I had any doubts that it could, but because it is coming together so quickly and nicely. I am so proud of the teachers and students.
Best Practices for Intervention and Instruction
Reflections on creating my wiki... So far, I don't quite understand how this Wiki Thing works. My goal will be to add articles, viewpoints, attachments that might help my colleagues and maintain connections with friends from previous schools. When first learning something new, it seems overwhelming, especially when I am learning and doing so much at one time....while beginning my service as the new principal of a school. I would like to write articles that impress about leaders that we build success or destroy it. Our system is so large, and so broken in the US....and from my experience it seems that many leaders have more concern for rules and keeping their jobs than they do for being innovative and taking risks. We have GOT TO take risks! My second section, entitled First Things First, would be filled with information, advice, and more about changing the climate of a school, setting expectations, following through, etc. Finally, I hope to attach information about intervention, instruction, and other ideas that I know work!
